Frampton Construction has hired Jon Wood, CHC, as General Superintendent. A fourth-generation builder with a strong healthcare expertise, Wood brings over two decades of experience and a passion for mentoring, strategic planning, and building with purpose.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (May 20, 2025) — Frampton Construction Company, a full-service firm providing planning and design support, preconstruction and construction services, has hired Jon Wood, CHC, as General Superintendent. Wood is a Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) and will operate throughout Frampton’s regional offices and jobsites. In this new leadership position, Wood will oversee multiple projects simultaneously, implement strategic planning initiatives, mentor emerging talent and establish unified approaches to construction execution.

Wood enters his role at Frampton with construction expertise rooted in family tradition. Representing the fourth generation of craftsmen in his family, his professional journey began in 2000 with custom residential homes before transitioning to commercial construction in 2006. He has since built an impressive portfolio of healthcare, higher education and sports facility projects throughout Virginia, Maryland and South Carolina.

Among Wood's most significant accomplishments is his work on the University of Virginia Medical Education Building.

"Building a facility where future doctors would learn to save lives had a lasting impact on me," Wood reflected. "Nearly 20 years later, that building continues to mold the minds of today's medical professionals."

His project portfolio also features the $260 million University of Maryland Baltimore Health Science Facility III, the $330 million Dominion Energy Workplace Tower I and a leadership role in preconstruction planning and early-phase procurement for the $1 billion-plus Roper St. Francis Replacement Hospital.

Wood's perspective on healthcare construction is informed by his 23 years of service as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, including a term as Chief of the Stony Point Volunteer Fire Company. This background has given him valuable insights into emergency department design and patient care workflows, complementing his professional expertise.

"I'm excited to join the Frampton team and contribute to their commitment to excellence in construction," said Wood. "What impressed me most during the interview process was the enthusiasm of every team member I met. One employee told me their only regret was not joining Frampton sooner — that sealed the deal for me. I look forward to helping develop the next wave of builders while ensuring we execute projects with a unified approach and strategic vision."

"Jon's exactly the kind of leader we want at Frampton," said Josh Schlechty, VP of Operations . "He sees potential problems before they happen and knows how to develop practical solutions. What really stands out is his commitment to mentoring our younger team members. With his experience across healthcare and higher education projects, he'll be a tremendous asset as we continue growing in these markets."

Wood's leadership philosophy emphasizes strategic front-end planning over reactive problem-solving, setting clear direction while providing guidance and support. When not on construction sites, he pursues his passion for music as a bassist in the country-americana band Woody Woodworth and the Piners.
