Frampton Construction has begun work on a 100-room Residence Inn hotel at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, SC, for developer Bennett Hospitality.

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (October 16, 2024) — Frampton Construction Company, a full-service firm providing planning and design support, preconstruction and construction services, is breaking ground on a new 100-room, five-story hotel at Patriots Point. The contractor will build the 82,000-square-foot Residence Inn on behalf of Bennett Hospitality, the developer behind the ambitious 31-acre, five-phase Patriots Annex development project on the east side of Charleston Harbor. Construction will begin immediately.

Located on Harry M. Hallman Jr. Boulevard in Mount Pleasant, the Marriott brand hotel will feature a fitness center, pool with an adjacent patio and deck, meeting rooms, and dining and bar areas. Modern, coastal-inspired hotel rooms will blend clean, contemporary design with elements that evoke the relaxed, natural beauty of the seaside.

Hotel guests will enjoy being within walking distance of several nearby attractions, including Patriots Point Soccer Stadium, the College of Charleston Baseball Stadium x Tennis Center, the 18-hole Patriots Point Links golf course, and the Patriots Point Naval and U.S. Maritime Museum, home to the USS Yorktown and the USS Laffey, both of which served in World War II.

Residence Inn at Patriots Point is one of the hotels Bennett Hospitality included in its Patriots Annex plans. Once complete, the $500 million development project will boast a seaside village with restaurants, retail, entertainment, office buildings, parks, and a grand lawn/town square — reinvigorating the local economy. Tourism supports over 200,000 jobs statewide and generates billions of dollars in state and local taxes. In 2022, tourism’s economic impact was $29 billion, according to the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

“We’re excited to contribute to the growth and vibrancy of the Mount Pleasant area through this new hotel,” said Tom Black, executive vice president and chief operations officer of Frampton Construction. “We’re ready to bring our expertise and dedication to this project and help deliver a top-tier facility that Charlestonians can be proud of, and visitors can enjoy for many years.”

Bennett Hospitality tapped Winford Lindsay Architect for (MEP) and architectural design and Seamon Whiteside for civil engineering services. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
